City of Bend Road and Traffic Report: Week of April 4-10

BEND, Oregon (KTVZ) – Here is the road and traffic report for the city of Bend for the week of April 4 to April 10.

  • Newport Corridor Improvement Project – Various intersections along Newport Avenue will be closed due to updates to water, sewer and stormwater facilities. Project-related road closures are listed below. For more information, visit the Newport Project website. Various closures until the end of winter 2022.
    • Newport Avenue, east of NW College Way roundabout to NW Juniper Street, eastbound closure with westbound local access. Businesses within the closure are still open and accessible. This segment should be open to two-way traffic by 4/8/22, weather permitting. Please continue to exercise caution as construction activities continue. Expect temporary lane changes and minor delays.
    • Newport Avenue between 10th Street and 11th Street, full road closure with detour, work expected to begin 4/5/22 (weather permitting)
    • Newport Avenue between 9th Street and 10th Street, complete road closure with local access. This segment should be open to two-way traffic by 4/8/22, weather permitting. Please continue to exercise caution as construction activities continue. Expect temporary lane changes and minor delays.

Current closures:

  • Wilson Avenue Improvement Project – Street improvements on Wilson from Second Street to 15and Street. For more information, visit the Wilson Project website. This is a multi-phase project with various intersection and road closures throughout.
    • Intersection of SE Wilson Avenue and SE 9th Street for roundabout construction, complete closure of intersection with detour until May 2022 (weather permitting).
  • Third Street Northeast between Olney Avenue and NE Butler Market Road for carriageway improvement, single lane closure of slow lanes. Completion scheduled for summer 2023.
  • Capella Square between SE 27th Street and SE Vega Street for infrastructure installation, eastbound lane closure.
  • NW Shevlin Ranch Road between NW Bordeaux Lane and NW Shevlin Meadow Drive for infrastructure installation, complete road closure. Completion expected end of May.
  • Boulevard Brisson between NE 18th Street and Layton Avenue for infrastructure installation, eastbound lane closures. Completion expected end of April.
  • NW Silver Buckle Road – As part of the Rimrock Pumping Stations Improvement Project, complete road closure during working hours.
  • SW McMullin Drive between Mahogany Street and Cinder Lane for installation of SW Sewer Basin project infrastructure, complete road closure with local access and detour until April 2022
  • Brosterhouse Road between Murphy Road and Knott Road for the installation of infrastructure, closure of the northbound lane with diversion. Estimate through late spring 2022. This is part of the Brosterhous accessibility improvement project.

Future road closures:

  • Way of King Hezekiah between King Jehu Way and King Solomon Court will be closed to through traffic for the installation of gravity sewers as part of the septic to sewer conversion scheme. Local access will be provided. For more information, visit bendoregon.gov/admiral-king-jehu. The closure is expected to begin 4/11/22 and continue through mid-summer 2022.

Working hours depend on weather conditions and other factors. Always exercise extra caution in construction areas. Drivers should use designated diversion routes. The neighboring residential streets are reserved for local traffic.
