On Friday, the Utah Jazz unveiled four new jerseys and a new image ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, with a classic version and a new one that drew a mixed reaction to say the least.
The Jazz are bringing back the purple mountain jerseys that the franchise wore from 1996 to 2004.

Labeling the purple uniforms as the “return”, the Jazz also revealed three other jerseys and concepts, calling it a “remix”.
The new black and yellow alternating look also features a white jersey. While fans seemed to appreciate the Jazz’s return to the old purple, they didn’t seem to care about the new highlighter brand.

If I was a Utah Jazz fan, I’d be in a meltdown about this.
All the dynamic typefaces, designs and ideas evoking Utah and jazz in the team’s history go all the way back to New Orleans and they found this? They look like training shirts. pic.twitter.com/dpBhi5EAtp

As a non-partisan party neutral and notorious fashionista, my take on the new Utah Jazz jerseys is that there’s a fine line between “clean and streamlined” and “boring and simplistic”, and that the team actually crossed. Basic colors. Basic fonts. Just basic. Far too basic.

Not to be dramatic, but if I don’t like the Utah Jazz name change, I’m going to dress like Cap’n Crunch, walk into a Navy recruiting center and ask for a brochure.

While announcing the leads for next season, the Jazz also teased two other purple jerseys which team will come from in the 2023 season.
