NORTH ALABAMA (WHNT) – Through Thursday, May 12, Lamar Advertising says it is honoring ten local nurses from hospitals, hospice and other services on its digital notice boards as part of National Nurses Week.
According to the company’s website, four slotsspread across Madison County, Decatur and Shoals, will feature the names and images of nurses who were submitted for use in April.
“It’s just about giving back any kind of advertising that will recognize people who sometimes don’t get the recognition they deserve,” said Jeff Handley, who manages Lamar Advertising in northern Alabama.
Handley said he especially wanted to shine a light on all the nurses from every corner of northern Alabama given his own experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The level of stress they went through during this time when a lot of other people were closed and couldn’t go out, they had to go to work,” he said. “It’s one of the reasons we honor these nurses and because of the sacrifices they made. Many of them probably caught COVID because of their profession. But they were exposed to the virus. So we just want to give back and thank them for what they have done.
